XL house is a project that dominates with its size and shape. Designed by the architectural studio “SoNo” it presents a unique living space. This house made for family of seven people is set on 2 000 sqm land with a living space area of 420 sqm. It is located in Slovenia, reflecting the local architecture and the natural surroundings.
The form of the house presents two parallel structures connected with a third structure which is perpendicular to them. All three structures have pitched roofs covered with black color materials same as the facade panels used on this house. The black color combined with the materials used, like wood, glass and metal, gives the house a sophisticated and mystic look with clean lines. Also, the materials create contrast which is in full harmony with the rural surroundings.
The wooden cladding on the façade is set at an angle of 45 degrees, while the wooden pieces placed vertically seem like they are set to an arbitrary distance. In fact, they are set to open up the windows of the house. The shortest structure is extended with the eave for the vehicles made from wooden structure and covered with plastic material. XL house catches the passerby views primarily because of its size but also with the gleaming architectural styling.
